However, this svchost problem is a symptom of more serious problems that most likely need a clean installation to solve completely.

However, it doesn’t need to be that way. CPU usage is low (about 1~3%). I could not download the software because the request timed out both on their http link and ftp. I do, however, have a HP PSC 1510xi All-in-one printer that I connect with a USB cord.

No where in services is HP listed. I did however verify that the bug was indeed in the system ("Flash Player keeps crashing my computer") and it is under investigation.
