Luckily, I had a system image. I don't want to check this again, because such very frequebt rebooting is not good for disks. The only way I could get booted into the OS was using Hiren's BootCD (excellent tool btw http://www.hirensbootcd.org/usb-booting/). Install the newer OS and windows automatically creates a boot loader to access both OS's.
